Boys/Girls State Applications

Boys and Girls state is a weeklong immersive experience held at the end of June where students assume roles of government leaders, campaigning in mock political parties to become mayors and state officials in their Boys or Girls State. Students live in "cities" within the dorms. Any student interested should ask their social studies teacher about it in the spring of their junior year. Applications are typically due by mid-May.

The American Legion and its Auxiliary are looking for students keenly interested in government and current events and who have high moral character, show strong leadership abilities, have excellent interpersonal & oratorical skills, and who demonstrate strong academic performance.

You can find general information, updated yearly, at the Connecticut Boys State Program or the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State.
