What is SAE?
A Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) is a key part of the Agriscience program, where students gain hands-on experience in an agricultural setting outside of the classroom. It's a state requirement that helps students apply what they learn in class to real-world environments.
Students can complete their SAE by working in agricultural-related businesses such as a local vet’s office, landscaping companies, or farms offering produce and horticulture. They can also start their own entrepreneurial ventures like lawn care services or pet-sitting businesses, volunteer with local organizations, or conduct independent research projects. The work can take place at home, within the community, or at an approved site.
SAEs are supervised by instructors, who provide support and feedback, ensuring the experience is valuable. Students also keep records of their work, including hours, tasks, and skills developed, which are used for assessment and school credit.
The SAE helps students develop practical skills, explore career options, and build leadership, responsibility, and work ethic.

What is FFA?
FFA is an intracurricular student organization for individuals interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three key components of agricultural education, alongside classroom instruction and the SAE.
The National FFA Organization is the largest youth organization in the United States, with over one million members, ages 12-21, in 9,235 chapters across all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. FFA’s mission is to develop strong, capable agricultural leaders who understand the global and technological significance of agriculture and its impact on society. The organization aims to build students' confidence, encourage thoughtful career choices in agriculture, and promote success through supervised agricultural experience programs.
FFA also emphasizes the responsible management of finances while fostering key interpersonal skills like teamwork and communication. The organization promotes character development, citizenship, volunteerism, patriotism, academic excellence and scholarship.
