What is Agriculture Science and Technology?
The Southington Regional Agriculture Program is part of Southington High School and provides students with the chance to pursue careers in agriculture or agribusiness. Students attend agriculture classes for one period each day alongside their regular high school courses. The program offers four main career pathways: animal science, agricultural mechanics, plant science, and natural resources, combining classroom instruction with hands-on activities in labs, greenhouses, animal facilities, and outdoor land labs.
Southington's Agriscience Program blends scientific inquiry with practical agricultural skills, preparing students for careers in agriculture. The program follows a three-circle model aligned with State Standards, including classroom instruction, Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), and National FFA Organization membership, offering students a comprehensive learning experience while allowing for exploration of additional courses.
